It's been a while since we've heard from London's psych-jazzers The Comet Is Coming. With saxophonist King Shabaka leading the increasingly popular Sons of Kemet and only a morsel of new music released for Record Store Day last year (see List Pick 'Start Running'), we were delighted to hear news of the transcendental trio's intriguingly-titled second album Trust In The Lifeforce Of The Deep Mystery. Lead track 'Summon The Fire' begins with a pulsating synth-bass line before beckoning Shabaka's characterful sax swoons and drummer Betamax's hypnotic rhythms. With nods to acid house and free jazz littered throughout, 'Summon The Fire' is an enthralling jam that bodes well for album number 2. -Holly Mullineaux
